NDIYA KUTHANDA, ISHTI!
What a mission! I got on a bus to go to the bank today to go draw out my moola from my SA account and when I got there, passport and credit card in hand I came across typical American paranoia about me not having American ID and I was told that I needed to have two id's to draw out the sum of money that I requested. Everyone behind the counter crowded around her, talking in hushed whispers. I said, "Alright but the only other ID I have is my normal SA ID". She said that I would have to show them but I didn't have it on me. I asked if that it was merely a factor due to the large amount and then all of a sudden I wasn't even allowed to draw out a smaller amount.
I had just $2 to get me back home without any way of getting back in to town.
When I did eventually get home in tears I decided to take a deeeeeep breath and went upstairs to grab my SA ID and tried the tiny little bank over the road here. I went in and requested the amount and PANIC STATIONS all over again. They were convinced that my SA passport wasn't real. And I asked the woman if I could speak to the manager. At which point she went over to the manager who just happened to be black who was highly impressed that I was AFRICAN. She went all African Roots befok and told the stupid chick that it was a REAL form of identification and that she should put the details through and see if the credit card would be approved. After another 20 minutes of huffing and puffing about my South African zip code she put the details of the credit card into the system and voila! OBVIOUSLY it was approved!
I nearly broke out into a Zulu dance, boobs out, bum jiggling African mama style....but merely maintained my necessary sophisticated first world composure and breathed a sigh of relief.
All of a sudden smiles all around. And "Not a problem, Ms. Hill, how would you like that Ms. Hill, let me kiss your ass Ms. Hill. Very nice that you come from Africa. Have a lovely trip."
So thats done! THANK THE GODDESS!

There is a thread running through the Wachowski Brothers movies as metaphor for the three faces of the Goddess, ultimate female domination and the breaking down of the patriarchal system and replacing it with the more sacred Matriarchal one... And this time, in a totally kick-ass empowered way, unlike the first time around. We've been taking it lying down for too long and we're not going to fuckin' take it anymore!
First there is Evey in V for Vendetta and her fight for FREEDOM from the Big Brother/ patriarchal system... she is named perhaps aptly as a nod to the first woman.. EVE. And what a revolutionary she was.. brought us all knowledge of good and evil and was pursecuted as a result by the big mean MAN god.. surprise, surprise.
Then there is Violet.. Vi.. and her fight for freedom from her patriarchal cage and ultimately she finds that in embracing her love for another woman. In V for Vendetta it is brought to our attention that the system oppresses Lesbianism with a story of a woman named Valerie... and I will get to that later...
Then finally, bringing it all together, there is Trinity... and it is right there.. in her name... she completes the triad in her fight for freedom, not only from the big brother/ patriarchal system but from complete reality as we know it.
Their names connect them to create a trinity/ triad in and of themselves.. There is Violet.. V... there is eVey...in V for Vendetta and there is Trinity to complete it.. this not only brings together the three of them as faces of the Goddess but also when combined form a triangle... inverted no less.. just as the gay pride symbol is to signify freedom from oppression from the Facist patriarchal system of World War II.
Freedom is our ultimate goal.. freedom from what? the patriarchal system, religious ideology, from ego, from self, from fear... to what end?... To LOVE. There are two things that exist.. only two... and we have a choice, between Fear & Love. And ultimately, our heroines in all three movies are fighting for us to be able to make that choice to move away from fear.. and towards LOVE.
As for Mother, Crone and Maiden.. it is for you to decide.. As a womyn I believe they are each trinities of these 3 facets individually.
And getting back to V... and Valerie as I said I would... perhaps in some small way this is all a nod to the greatest V of them all...
Valerie Solanas... mother, crone, maiden of a true female supremacist revolution.
Well done Wachowskis.. you have shown me hope in a world where I've heard too many stories of women who are beaten, raped and had their freedoms ripped from them by arsehole men.. you instead are rational men.. as Valerie so succinctly put it "men who are rational and won't kick or struggle or raise a distressing fuss, but will just sit back, relax, enjoy the show and ride the waves to their demise"...and perhaps not just sit there... but fight alongside us...
"Behold! In sight, a retired entertainer cast indirectly as both victim and villan by the changes of Fate. This mask, no show of pride, is a trace of the people’s voice, now empty, gone. However, this brave visit of a by-gone irritaion stands animated, and has promised to destroy these corruptable and malicious vermin facing the front of immoral conduct and giving the violently vicious and power-hungry violation of will! The only choice is revenge, a feud, held as a wish, not unsuccessful, for the value and truthfulness of such shall one day clear the names of the watchful and the morally good. In truth, I need to shut up now because I am becoming too wordy, so let me simply add that it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me “V”"
Boys...Atropos, Clotho and Lachesis must be very pleased with you. Goddess knows, I sure as hell am.
